The main objective of the audit was to verify that TOON’s operations met established HACCP requirements and to identify any gaps requiring corrective action. This included evaluating hygiene practices, equipment maintenance, chemical usage, fire safety measures, and record-keeping procedures. The exercise also aimed to strengthen internal controls and prepare the company for continued certification, reinforcing trust with buyers and regulatory bodies.
Several non-conformances were identified during the inspection. Wooden pallets currently in use posed contamination risks due to potential harboring of pests and microorganisms. Fire extinguishers were mounted too high, making them inaccessible during emergencies, and the type of extinguisher in use was not optimal for protecting sensitive electrical and mechanical equipment. Documentation shortcomings included missing critical control points in process flow charts and the absence of a formal annual training plan for staff.
FutuX facilitated a comprehensive two-part audit process: a physical facility walkthrough followed by a detailed review of HACCP documentation. Observations were documented in real-time, and immediate recommendations were shared with TOON’s management team. Key focus areas included pest control, sanitation protocols, employee hygiene zones, and operational safety. Post-audit feedback emphasized actionable steps to align practices with global food safety benchmarks.
The day-long audit began at 10:15 AM with an orientation session and proceeded with a systematic inspection of all major units—including storage buildings, generator house, changing rooms, restrooms, cleaning areas, fumigation chambers, and control panels. Auditors observed ongoing cleaning operations and reviewed standard operating procedures. The second half focused on document verification, assessing whether CCPs were properly defined, monitored, and recorded. Staff interviews helped validate implementation fidelity, and photographic evidence was collected throughout.
Overall, the auditors expressed satisfaction with TOON’s level of compliance, noting well-maintained facilities and organized workflows. However, specific improvements were recommended: replacing wooden pallets with plastic ones for better hygiene, adjusting fire extinguisher height to between 1 and 1.5 meters, updating equipment to suit operational risks, introducing CCP3 (bagging and weighing) into official documentation, developing a yearly training calendar, and establishing clear food safety objectives. These findings were compiled into a formal report delivered to TOON’s leadership.
This surveillance audit reinforced TOON’s commitment to food safety and quality assurance, strengthening its credibility in domestic and export markets. By addressing the identified gaps, the company enhances its ability to prevent contamination, protect consumer health, and maintain certification status. The recommendations serve as a roadmap for continuous improvement, particularly in documentation rigor and staff development, laying the groundwork for a stronger food safety culture within the organization.
FutuX played a pivotal role in validating TOON’s adherence to global food safety standards through a rigorous HACCP surveillance audit. Despite minor deficiencies, the auditors were impressed by the overall state of compliance, reflecting strong internal discipline. Critical upgrades—such as transitioning to hygienic plastic pallets and formalizing training plans—are now underway, ensuring sustained excellence. This engagement underscores FutuX’s expertise in bridging local agribusinesses with international quality frameworks, enabling market competitiveness and consumer confidence.
